PSE's Generation & Natural Gas Storage team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Project Coordinator position!

Job Description

The Project Coordinator position is located at our SE Washington Wind Plants "Lower Snake River & Hopkins Ridge" outside of Pomeroy & Dayton, WA. It's responsible for providing oversight, coordination and facilitation of departmental programs for the O&M Supervisor on a multitude of tasks, activities and projects. These include preventive/corrective maintenance, testing, monitoring, retrofits and modifications of wind turbines, wind plant infrastructure equipment (HV electrical collector and transmission inter-tie, substations, communication, meteorological, SCADA, security, road and building) systems.

 

Projects may also include the addition of new generation facilities and modifications and upgrades to existing facilities. This involves coordination with other departments such as Engineering, Substation, Real Estate, Environmental & Permitting, Planning, Energy Resources, Safety, Equipment OEM’s and others and may include negotiation and conflict resolution. Must be able to successfully manage the relationship between service providers, internal and external customers or stakeholders/landowners, providing operational and technical support for issue/complaint resolution. This includes providing guidance to service providers on interpretation of work standards and variances when required. This position will support and assist in the management, oversight and monitoring of services performed by contractors for plant related work activities.

 

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Under general direction of O&M Supervisor, provides oversight, direction and support to service providers, contractors and  vendors
  • Facilitates communication between O&M supervisor, service providers and internal customers, including technical support at the direction of O&M supervisor.
  • Reviews and provides support and coordination on project-related documentation, technical memorandum, design plans, specifications, and other project related materials; and manages specific project related tasks as directed by the O&M Supervisor.
  • Performs wind plant infrastructure equipment & system inspections.
  • Performs wind turbine inspections. Climbs wind turbines > 300' feet in severe hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Fields landowner and customer concerns and works with appropriate parties for resolution.
  • In support of O&M Supervisor or plant staff, facilitates technical assistance to service providers, customers, internal and external customers.
  • Applies basic project management concepts and practices.
  • Tracks project milestones and deliverables and reports on project and program progress as directed.
  • Support emergency response work as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two year Associate’s Degree or better in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of cost estimating and scheduling concepts.
  • Knowledge of utility methods, techniques and procedures involved in budgeting, procurement and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, influence others and resolve issues.
  • Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of rotating mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydraulic components & systems
  • Experience and knowledge with project, work management and business systems
  • Ability to write clear, concise and direct narratives and reports.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Ambition to expand knowledge and experience and seek increasing levels of responsibility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to develop and cultivate strong working relationships with contractual counterparties, regulators and other industry participants.
  • Understanding of environmental and/or operational issues, regulatory changes and, societal trends as they may impact one of the Energy Resources Group Assets compliance policy and conduct.
  • Demonstrated capability in leadership, team building, and establishing long-term relationships with regulatory agency contacts.
  • Proficient with suite of word processing, group presentations, spreadsheet applications and e-mail.
