Department/Division Purpose (brief description of main function):

Provide relevant and rigorous instruction to students in our Computer Information Systems Program in order to provide them with the skills and knowledge to become productive employees or to successfully transfer to a four-year institution to continue their education.

This new, grant-funded position will support the following functions related to the CIS/HIT department: E-sports programming, National Cyber League competitions, internship placement, and follow-up, recruiting and student pathway advisement. This position will serve as the PCC E-sports coach for the branch campus and as a CIS/HIT advisor.

Responsibilities include organizing student activities, coaching, student advisement, recruitment and mentoring of students, internship coordination, and apprenticeship support. Additionally, this position will have teaching responsibilities including up to 12 credits per academic year – not to exceed 6 per semester. Position will be based out of the Mancos Campus. Travel throughout Southwest Campus service area (Dolores, Montezuma, La Plata, San Juan and Archuleta Counties) will be required for recruiting purposes. Occasional travel to other PCC campuses may be expected. Position requires a flexible work schedule to provide CIS and HIT program support and recruiting.

Job Duties Essential Functions:

Student Advisement and Coaching

Serve as the lead to develop and coach an emerging e-sports team. E-sports labs computer maintenance and troubleshooting Serve as the National Cyber League Coach Works as a liaison with high school teachers to coach/mentor the NCL teams Serve as a point-of-contact for inquiries across campus for the program Advise students as a member of the CIS team Maintain student advisement and graduation records in accordance with policies and procedures

Grant Management

Tracks progress toward completion of grant-funded program including student recruitment and scholarship data for monthly and quarterly reports Track financial expenses for reporting purposes Collaborate with PCC colleagues and personnel in submitting state reports Evaluating the program with effective use of data to monitor and evaluate student progress and lead instructional/program improvement.

Recruitment and Retention

Recruit students into P-Tech, CIS, and HIT programs which may include representing the department at events or activities, working on promotional materials and the website, or developing campaigns to reach current, former, or future students. Help resolve student challenges and conflict Provide mentoring to students as needed Provide career guidance for students Develop relationships with local industry, Workforce Center and Economic Development Centers. Coordinate the completion of the VE135 graduate survey and regularly collect and report data as required by the COSI Grant.

Program Development and Computer Lab Support

Coordinator/support the CIS P-Tech program Develop and coordinate a CIS apprenticeship program Oversee computer lab at the branch campus Train and supervise work-study positions

Teaching

Teaches up to 12 credit hours (6 per semester) as assigned, and meets all scheduled classes. Provides adequate preparation of the course material. Serves as a substitute within the program for absent colleagues for short-term absences as needed. Maintains regularly scheduled office hours for consultation or advisement with students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field

Licenses or Certificates:

Eligible for CTE credentialing in Computer Information Systems in the state of Colorado

Experience:

2 years full-time work experience in Information Technology or related field in the last 7 years.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Demonstrated skill working with a diverse population Ability to communicate clearly to multiple diverse groups to include administration, stakeholders, employees, and students. Ability to work a flexible work schedule Ability to travel for recruitment and training as required

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Master’s Degree or higher in CS, CIS, or related field.

Licenses or Certificates:

CTE credentialed in the state of Colorado Industry certifications in A+, Security+, or Network+ (or other relevant industry certificates).

Experience:

Student Teaching or advising experience Multiplayer online video gaming experience. Experience managing a multi-year grant program

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Demonstrated ability to recruit, promote programs, and conduct outreach to potential students and community partners in business and industry. Internship or apprenticeship supervision Demonstrated success increasing diversity of students/employees and implementing diversity initiatives.
