Foster Care Coordinator
Montezuma County Department of Social Services has an opening for an energetic, outgoing person to fill their Foster Care Coordinator position. The person who fills this position will be recruiting, assessing, evaluating, and recommending new Foster Care Homes. The Foster Care Coordinator will be responsible for monthly home visits with foster home families, will report on the children’s well-being, and will work with the foster homes to find temporary living arrangements for children if necessary. The Foster Care Coordinator will work with other caseworkers, attorneys, courts, and social services departments to provide care and achieve the agency’s objectives.
Salary: $23.63/hour plus Health, Dental, Vision, Life, EAP, HSA Insurance, 10 paid Holidays, Paid Annual and Sick Leave and a 401K match.
Responsibilities and Duties: Recruits, assesses and recommends license approval for family foster homes. Completes all the steps required by Montezuma County Department of Social Services and the Colorado Department of Human Services to certify a family foster home timely. Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state and county foster care regulations. Coordinate ongoing training and recruitment strategies for foster homes. Completes Interstate Compact Placement of Children (ICPC) requests in timely fashion. Provides ongoing supervision of ICPC cases and quarterly reports. Completes annual reviews of certified Family Foster homes, which include a review of the physician’s plan, visit and inspection of family foster home, completing individual provider contract for purchase of foster care services, evaluates compliance with rules regulating foster homes and verifies that all required documentation is current and accurate. Complete Structured Analysis Family Evaluator (SAFE) certification and Colorado State Caseworker certification. Provides foster parents with a clear understanding of their role, the roles of the foster care coordinator, agency, legal parents and courts. Supports foster parents and helps them to provide care to a variety of children. Provides foster parents with guidance, ongoing training, and encourages and teaches foster parents to use appropriate resources and parenting methods to meet the needs of the foster child. Provides ongoing supervision and support to all licensed family foster homes.
Qualifications and Skills: Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or other Human Services field. 7 Weeks of Child Welfare training will be required plus 40 hours of on-going trainings per year. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong computer skills. Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record and must pass a background check.
