Assessor’s Office - Appraisal Data Technician: Works with appraisers to field visit properties to complete measuring & inventory requirements for appraisal; completes data entry as required on County properties. Provides customer service support to clients. Must be organized with excellent communication skills. Valid driver’s license required. JOB SUMMARY: Works with area appraisers to field visit properties to complete measuring and inventory requirements for appraisal; completes data entry as required on properties in the county.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Reasonable accommodations, as defined under the American with Disabilities Act, will be made when possible. • Conducts field inspections to collect data required for appraisal of land, homes, and structures for appraisal purposes. • Helps develop and maintain necessary records of field research in a clear well-organized manner. • Completes data entry and scanning of basic appraisal information at the direction of the deputy assessor and area appraisers. Makes other data changes as directed. • Makes phone calls for data survey purposes with the guidance of commercial appraisers. • Interacts with the public both in the field and in the office in a professional manner to ensure communications about property appraisals are accurate and complete. • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: High School diploma or GED; and, Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Licenses and Certifications: Valid State Driver’s License
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Principles, practices, methods utilized in architecture and construction of homes and commercial properties. • Knowledge of PC computer software including Excel, and MS Word programs and ability to understand and utilize drawing software and industry specific programs. • Ability to accurately use mathematics, including geometry to draw and verify building and living areas. • Good filing and organizational skills. Skill in: • Map reading and interpretation of maps for discovery and description of land attribute • Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines. • Dealing appropriately with the public in situations which may be from reluctance to potentially violent. • Mathematics and estimation. • Communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing. • Preparing clear and concise reports.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and setting; to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; to verbally communicate to exchange information. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and work in high precarious places.
