JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of tasks related to the preparation and serving of meals to clients in accordance with State and Federal health standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Assists in cooking food according to prescribed menus and client’s dietary instructions. Prepares meals for distribution to clients and serves food to clients. Cleans and maintains work areas. Assists with cleanup and washes dishes. Stocks food items. Operates a variety of cooking and cleaning equipment such as pots, pans, blenders, stove, dishwasher, and mops. Maintains records of activities. Serves as Food Service Manager in his/her absence. Performs other related duties as assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED: Variety of cooking and cleaning equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience: Some prior food preparation and/or cooking experience preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: None.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of: Basic food preparation techniques. Policies, procedures, philosophies, rules and regulations governing the services to clients. Applicable state, federal and local ordinances, laws, rules and regulations.

Skill in: Operating a variety of cooking and cleaning equipment. Maintaining basic records.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, stoop, kneel, or crouch, taste or smell, and speak and hear. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is occasionally exposed to non-weather related hot temperatures.
