JOB SUMMARY: Supports the set up, tear down and operation of all county facilities public events and services; ensures the success of each event, ranging from providing and coordinating support services to monitoring and directing support services; performs various maintenance activities to ensure the efficient and safe operation of all the county facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Reasonable accommodations, as defined under the American with Disabilities Act, will be made when possible. Determines priorities and coordinates support activities between simultaneous events. Sets priorities on a daily basis with regard to daily events, upcoming events and continuous grounds improvement projects; issues orders to subordinate staff and ensures work is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner. Carries out lead worker responsibilities including: training in job skills, assigning and directing work, making recommendations in performance appraisal, and reporting problems to supervisor. Works with county facility users to prepare buildings, rooms and other facilities to accommodate all events at the county facilities; makes changes in the facilities to meet the needs of the group/event; works with representatives of the group/event and the public to support the success of the operation including: set up, tear down, security, parking and the coordination of utilities such as electrical, lighting, and water. Operates and maintains a variety of heavy equipment including tractors, motor grader, backhoe, dump trucks and water trucks; performs preventive and major maintenance/repairs on all of the equipment as needed. Maintains county buildings including performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing and concrete maintenance and repairs. Maintains the grounds including mowing, raking, weeding, applying insecticides and herbicides, and trimming trees and foliage; maintains equipment used in these tasks. Maintains the HVAC systems. Assists with the selection and purchase of various materials and pieces of equipment for county facilities operation and maintenance; orders and picks up supplies and tools required to complete construction projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED; and, Two to four years of progressively responsible related experience; or, Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid State Driver's License. First Aid and CPR Certification (desirable).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the building trades (electrical, plumbing, welding, and concrete). Hazardous materials and the occupational hazards of building trades and of the necessary safety precautions. Vehicle maintenance and repair both diesel and gasoline.
Skill in: Operation and routine maintenance of light and heavy equipment. Planning, organizing, assigning, directing, reviewing and evaluating the work of staff.
Ability to: Ability to take a special construction project from conception through construction to completion Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Essential functions of this job also require the employee to frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, speak and hear, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, the incumbent may be required to lift and/or move 100 pounds. Working time may require irregular hours, on-call, and\or shift times. The incumbent's working conditions are typically moderately loud. $28.71 /hour.
