Position Summary

The Director of the Campbell Child & Family Center is accountable for the operation and instructional leadership of the program in the absence of the Director. The Director is actively involved in developing policies, budgets, and setting instructional objectives. In addition, the Director supervises staff, oversees daily operations, and works to build a rapport with parents. 

Minimum Qualifications

*Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field 

*Three or more years of experience in an early childhood leadership position  

*A combination of toddler and preschool teaching experience 

*Demonstrated ability to relate to children, parents, staff, college students and the broader community, especially individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds 

*Strong knowledge in and ability to lead staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum 

*Knowledge of budget management 

*Must meet large center director qualification as outlined by the Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing Division  

*A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities 

Preferred Qualifications

*Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education 

*Previous experience with grant writing  

*Complex budget management 

*Experience in staff development   

*Knowledge of NAEYC Standards and Accreditation 

Major Responsibilities

Administration: 

*Ensure that all licenses and permits are current 

*Remain in compliance and keep abreast of Colorado licensing requirements (i.e. health,enrollment, staffing, space and equipment) 

*Support, refine, and communicate organizational mission, philosophies, values,goals, and policies Attend and actively participate in appropriate college and community meetings, conferences, regional functions, and trainings including collaboration with Teacher Education and Psychology departments  

*Prepare and conduct bi-annual meeting with Advisory Board  

*Oversee website development in collaboration with Support Staff member  

*Maintain established security system and remain in contact with Physical PlantServices   

Financial: 

*Oversee the fiscal operation; including management and/or writing of grants, budget, payroll, and expenses Develop budget in conjunction with the Budget Office and maintain accurate, current financial reporting through Banner/WebOpus  

*Monitor tuition billing and payment and work with families to resolve payment issues  

*Submit financial paperwork for CACFP program  

*Ensure prompt and accurate payments to vendors  

*Reconcile purchase card 

Enrollment: 

*Focus on establishing and maintaining on-going marketing efforts to sustain enrollment.  

*Maintain active waiting lists and enrollment procedures.  

*Provide responsive communication with families and appropriate community organizations.  

*Give tours of the center to prospective families.  

*Enroll new students. 

Leadership: 

*Supervise, lead and serve as a role model to teaching teams (4 lead teacher and 5 assistant teachers) through communication and collaboration.  

*Supervise approximately ten student workers and seven substitute teachers.  

*Schedule staff to maintain state ratios; including student workers and substitutes.  

*Ensure that all staff interact and communicate respectfully with children demonstrating an inclusive environment with a focus on diversity and equity.  

*Develop key staff to share leadership roles. Recruit staff through search committees.  

*Hire and orient new staff members.  

*Prepare, review annually, and update all job descriptions.  

*Revise personnel handbook as needed in collaboration with Support Staff member.  

*Provide sources for ongoing education and training as required for all who work in ECE field. Supervise and conduct yearly evaluations of staff; including annual goals. Be proactive to resolve conflict.  

*Document and follow through on employee disciplinary actions as needed.  

*Keep personnel records according to federal and state guidelines.  

*Maintain website in collaboration with Support Staff member.  

*Schedule and/or conduct monthly staff trainings and meetings and educational opportunities for parents.  

*Create positive partnerships with families by serving as a resource and responding to questions and concerns.

Community:   

*Initiate and foster positive relationships between the center, campus community, individuals, and agencies in the Four Corners area. 

*Schedule practicum and observation students and network with other college departments.   

Educational: 

Provide leadership in curriculum development and oversee the classroom educational program including serving children with disabilities. 

*Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $66,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The successful candidate will be required to submit original, official college transcripts, and pass a background check.
