Community & Economic Development Director
The City of Cortez is accepting applications for a Community and Economic Development Director. This position is responsible for the administrative, supervisory and technical work involving implementation of City economic development programs and activities. Responsible for the leadership and overall supervision of the City Planning and Building Department and the Manager of Marketing and Events. Conducts independent research and prepares plans and reports relating to a wide variety of economic development issues. Ensures investigations occur for existing buildings for life, health and safety issues and works to bring issues in to compliance. May be required to attend evening meetings as needed. Must have comprehensive knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of community and economic development, planning and urban re-development; ability to perform a wide variety of difficult technical tasks with accuracy under pressure. Graduation from a College or University of recognized standing with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Finance, City Planning or closely related field. Master’s Degree is preferred. Salary range is $32.93-$49.38. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and discretionary leave.
