Position Summary:

TheDirector of Supply Chain Logisticsis responsible for Supply Chain logistics in BBU’s West Business Unit. This role will work cross functionally with Co-packers, Transportation, Sales, and Manufacturing leaders. As a member of the Supply Chain team this person will help develop and implement Safety, Service, and Cost initiatives to build a resilient and agile Supply Chain.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• KPIs such as TRIR, order fill, order accuracy, OEE, inventory accuracy, cost per unit, on time seal, and on time delivery

• Safety: pursuit of zero injuries through safety leadership, effective and sustainable implementation of the Bimbo safety management system resulting in a highly engaged safety culture

• Food safety and quality including product control (FIFO) and traceability

• Operational effectiveness: reliable, resilient, and low-cost operation by implementing management systems and a continuous improvement culture

• Creation of internal metrics and reports to understand performance and provide early insight into issues/opportunities

• Maintenance: preventative and predictive maintenance programs, parts room management, skills development

• Operations: implement manufacturing transformation practices such as Gemba walks, huddles, and root cause problem solving

• Financial controls: work with Finance to implement robust inventory and expense control

• Labor management: partner with the Union to build a “win-win” relationship

• Automation/systems enhancements: identification of functional improvements to make technology and systems more efficient and effective.

• Perform as a key leader of Supply Chain Logistics to deliver business results:

  • Lead issue resolution: act as point person to resolve performance issues that may span the value chain for the area.

o Partner cross functionally with peers in Production, Sales, Engineering, Human Relations / Labor Relations, Finance, Planning, Transportation and other departments in order to optimize the entire value chain t. Areas of activity include:

§ Optimize inventory policy: fine tune stocking levels/replenishment orders to optimize the balance between service and waste

§ Establish and refine parameters such as delivery windows, quantity tolerances, load building, etc. to facilitate high service, low cost, and high capacity utilization

§ Develop costs for specific activities/services that can be applied to provide more insight into true profitability

§ Ongoing daily S&OP coordination with both internal and external customers.

§ Improve operational visibility and support complexity reduction to improve cost and service improvement

§ Lead ideation/opportunity identification across functions

o Provide functional leadership to bakery shipping to drive safety, service and cost initiatives within assigned area.

o Manage assets including capital investments, real estate, and supply chain equipment (trailers and product carriers) to both sustain and improve business performance

o Drive Value Chain Productivity acting as point person to drive lowest landed cost to the customer location

• Lead a diverse team focused on fully empowering Associates to deliver operational excellence

o Build a culture of mutual respect, teamwork, and professionalism, demonstrating active support of the Company’s beliefs and policies.

o Leadership Structure that continues to develop self-sufficient teams that embrace change through associate engagement and continuous improvement initiative

o Lead teams including:

§ Customer service leads focused on increasing On-Time and In Full performance and supporting front line sales team

§ Maintenance and Engineering team focused on equipment reliability and ensuring operational performance

§ Logistics team focused on daily fulfillment of customer orders and ensuring safe and efficient operations

o Responsible for insuring alignment with DSD excellence at all levels within Distribution organization for sales area

The Director of Supply Chain Logistics will be capable of implementing improvements based on benchmarks, use those productivity benchmarks from similar companies to measure the productivity of their own facility and to implement improvements to reach benchmark levels of efficiency. A candidate who has held a series of positions with increasing responsibility and moved several times, either externally and/or internally, while continuing to be successful will be desirable.

Education and Work History:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.

• A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.

• 10+ years of increasingly responsible supply chain or manufacturing experience.

• 4+ years of direct supervisory experience in manufacturing or distribution operations

• Participative management style and excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Demonstrated experience building a diverse, strong management team and promoting teamwork across all departments.

• Demonstrated ability to drive sustainable change

• Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and deliver business results.

• Knowledge of safety related issues including compliance with all applicable regulations.

• Labor relations experience.

• Strong business acumen and working knowledge of continuous improvement, equipment design and installation, project management, and financial reporting.

• Ability to analyze data using various operating systems and programs.

• Experience with Oracle, SAP or other WMS and SCP platforms is preferred
