Business and Education storyteller sought in the high desert The award-winning Farmington Daily Times, part of the USA TODAY Network, seeks a dynamic multi-media storyteller with a background in daily journalism and a proven track record of excellence. Our local news is often national news, and we tell it through words, videos and photo galleries. The Four Corners region is a center for resource extraction and a regional population hub. There’s no shortage of fascinating topics to cover on our education beat. We’re also a region with world-class recreational opportunities that include fishing, rafting, skiing and hiking to explore ancient archaeological sites and amazing rock formations. The successful candidate will be the lead writer for two popular monthly online and print publications – Energy Magazine and the Four Corners Business Journal. Your stories for Energy about the oil and gas industry will be followed by local readers – and readers across the nation and the world. Our business journal covers a community hard-hit by an economic downturn and the leaders who are struggling to reinvent the county’s economy. Our position as part of the USA TODAY Network allows for collaboration with other Gannett newsrooms, as well as greater exposure for our top stories. Our small newsroom has a big impact, which is one reason we won first place for breaking news in the 2018 Best of Gannett contest for our division, and first-place general excellence for our division in the New Mexico Press Association’s 2017 Better Newspapers Contest. You must be an excellent and accurate reporter, more than just fluent in social media, able to craft video to accompany your words and a helpful team player who looks out for colleagues and expects the same. A minimum of three years at a daily publication is preferred. Gannett offers excellent benefits and competitive pay and is an equal opportunity employer.
